How to Download and Use Archibite Photoshop Brushes

Archibite Photoshop Brushes are designed to make architectural visualisation and graphic design faster, easier, and more expressive. From vegetation and trees to people, vehicles, and other architectural elements, our brushes help you add detail and atmosphere to your drawings and presentations without creating every element from scratch.

Most products are provided as .ABR files, Adobe Photoshop's brush format. Follow this guide to download, install, and start using your brushes.

1. Download your files

After completing your purchase, Shopify's Digital Downloads system provides access to your downloadable files.

  1. Open the download link provided after your purchase or in your order confirmation email.

  2. Download the .ABR file to your computer.

  3. Locate the file in your Downloads folder or your chosen download location.

Some products may include additional files or be packaged in a ZIP archive. If your download is a ZIP file, extract it first to access the included brush files.

Tip: Keep your original brush files in a dedicated folder so you can reinstall them or transfer them to another computer when needed.

2. Install the brushes in Photoshop

There are two simple ways to install Archibite brushes in Adobe Photoshop.

Option A — Import the ABR file

  1. Open Adobe Photoshop.

  2. Open the Brushes panel by selecting Window → Brushes.

  3. Open the panel menu and choose Import Brushes. The wording or menu location may vary slightly between Photoshop versions.

  4. Locate the downloaded .ABR file on your computer.

  5. Select the file and click Load or Import.

Your new brushes should now appear in the Brushes panel, ready to use.

Option B — Double-click the ABR file

On some systems, you may be able to double-click the .ABR file to open it in Photoshop.

If this doesn't work, use the import method above.

Tip: Keep your Photoshop installation updated and check the product description if a specific software version is recommended.

3. Select and use your brushes

Once installed, you can use the brushes like other Photoshop brushes.

  1. Open an existing image, architectural drawing, or presentation.

  2. Select the Brush Tool (B) from the toolbar.

  3. Open the Brushes panel and select an Archibite brush.

  4. Adjust the brush size using the options bar or brush settings.

  5. Choose a foreground colour if the brush supports colour changes.

  6. Click once to place a brush impression, or click and drag to paint with the brush.

For many architectural entourage brushes, a single click is enough to place a complete element, such as a tree, person, or vehicle silhouette.

Tip: Create a new layer before adding brushes to your artwork. This allows you to reposition, transform, adjust the opacity of, or remove the elements without affecting the original drawing.

4. Get the most out of your brushes

Photoshop brushes can be used in many different ways in architectural workflows.

Architectural plans and elevations

Use people, vegetation, and vehicle brushes to add scale, context, and visual interest to plans, elevations, and sections.

Architectural renderings

Add trees, plants, and other contextual elements to help create atmosphere and communicate the intended character of a space.

Diagrams and presentations

Use brush assets to enhance concept diagrams, site studies, and presentation boards while maintaining a consistent graphic style.

Adjust size and opacity

Brush size controls the scale of the impression, while opacity controls how strongly it appears. Lower opacity can help integrate an element into a drawing without making it too dominant.

Use layers for flexibility

Place different categories of elements on separate layers when possible. This makes it easier to organise your artwork and adjust individual elements later.

5. Troubleshooting

Photoshop doesn't recognise the ABR file.

Make sure the file has downloaded completely and has the .ABR extension. If it is inside a ZIP archive, extract it before importing it into Photoshop.

I can't find the brushes after importing them.

Open the Brushes panel and look for the newly imported brush group. If necessary, repeat the import process and select the correct file.

The brush appears too large or too small.

Adjust the brush size before placing the impression. You can also use Free Transform to resize the result if it is on a separate layer.

The brush appears in the wrong colour.

Many silhouette-style brushes use the current foreground colour. Select your desired foreground colour before placing the brush impression.

The brush looks blurry or pixelated.

Photoshop brushes generally create raster-based marks. Their appearance depends on the brush design, document resolution, and brush size. For the sharpest result, use an appropriate document resolution and avoid enlarging a brush impression excessively.

The brushes don't work in another application.

ABR files are designed for compatible brush applications, particularly Adobe Photoshop. Other graphics applications may not support this format or may support only certain brush features.
